sustainability/green skills training
Offer Summary
- CMA is excited to present a variety of sustainability/green skills training provision, covering current and relevant topics from ‘Environmental and Social Governance’ and ‘Increasing Biodiversity’ to ‘Carbon Literacy’ and ‘Championing Sustainability in Schools’.
- CMA is thrilled about this opportunity to assist local schools (both primary and secondary) and academies in the development and implementation of sustainability and green skills within their curriculum, approach to teaching, and culture both inside and outside the classroom.
- Recognising the Need
- In December 2023, the Department for Education set a target “for all education settings to have a sustainability lead and a climate action plan in place by 2025, to help embed sustainability in all they do”.
- Although there is the presence of green skills within the ambitions of many education and training providers across the UK, there is a need for a sustainability-focussed curriculum within schools, academies and colleges, developing the green skills of their learners as they discover their career paths and academic journeys.
- There is an ever-increasing demand from schools for green-focused content, with ‘themed delivery days’ providing a welcome opportunity for employers to be present and deliver sessions which are engaging, realistic, wholesome and insightful to the learners. However, when learners return back to their mainstream curriculum, there is a significant lack of sustainability/green-related content within lessons.
- Through the provision of sustainability/green training, as highlighted within this document, and a commitment to adapting a flexible curriculum which incorporates and embeds the principles of sustainability, schools (both locally and nationally) can develop lessons which subtly promote the budding of green skills, and facilitate an eco-conscious generation who will make an impact in their lives, both professionally and personally.
- Target Market
- The training opportunities highlighted within this document are for all staff members within a school setting. All training opportunities are specifically designed to be suitable for classroom use, where students can develop specific sustainability/green skills and increase their awareness of how to ensure they minimise their impact on the environment, and harness creativity and innovative thinking to encourage a greener future.
- The courses listed within this document are also aimed at developing school staff members. The training is not exclusive to teaching staff, but is applicable to all who work within an education environment. After all, everyone has the opportunity to become more sustainable in their respective roles, therefore the training to assist individuals in increasing their skills is available to all.
- Whether you are new to the topic of sustainability and green skills, or are looking to reskill/upskill yourself to include environmental, social and economic awareness, then CMA has the resources, the expertise, the flexibility and time to help get to where you want to be.
