Basic Course Content:
This course will cover:
- Day 1 - Employability Skills
- Understand learners own transferable skills and personal qualities
- Exploring the job market and the learners own aspirations
- Understanding and building CVs
- Exploring Health and Safety in the Workplace
- Researching and exploring businesses
- Day 2 - Marine Engineering Intro
- Understanding and exploring Marine Engineering
- 2 Engineering tasks - Designing 5 objects and solid towers in small teams using innovation and creativity
- Site tour of a related Marine business
- Inspirational employer talks
- Day 3 - Boat Building Intro
- Understanding and exploring Boat Building
- 1 Boat Building task - Learners will design and build boats in small teams
- Site tour of a related Marine business
- Inspirational employer talks
- Day 4 - Sustainability Intro
- Understanding what Sustainability is and how it impacts you and your future
- Explore the 3 pillars of Sustainability and how these pillars hold up the society we live in
- Explore energy sources, renewable energy and human impacts
- 1 Sustainability task - Design and build a Sustainable school
- Site tour of a related Marine business
