The Donation is to support its Academy outreach and schools programme, which prepares young people at school for jobs and Apprenticeships.

In making the donation, Watson Marlow Fluid Technology Group will become the CIC’s key corporate sponsor. The company is a world‑leading manufacturer of fluid path technologies whose headquarters are also in Falmouth.

Cornwall Marine Academy have already achieved a great deal over the last 17 years and continue to inspire the next generation of young people coming into employment at every level. Cornwall Marine Academy Director Dave Wickes added, “This partnership with Watson Marlow Fluid Technology Group will raise valuable support and awareness of our Academy work with young people. The funds will support our schools outreach programme, with 48 students from four local schools gaining career-enhancing pre-apprenticeship training. This includes employability skills, organisational capabilities, planning and carrying out research and resilience techniques. This will also include facilitated site visits and an interview opportunity for a work placement at Watson Marlow Ltd.

Young people will gain recognised qualifications and engagement with a leading local employer, which will give them a big advantage when they apply for jobs and apprenticeships. We’re really excited about working with WMFTG and making a difference over the coming year and beyond.”
