The Challenges

What challenges did you face?

Before attending the CMA workshops, I was enrolled at Penzance Job Centre and applying for Kickstart vacancies. I completed a University Degree before moving back home during the pandemic. I struggled to put my Creative Degree to use, living rurally in Cornwall. I was unsuccessful in most of my Kickstart applications.

The Action

What action did you take?

I have a reinforced commitment to my goal of developing myself as an Electrician for Film and Television, I’ve secured a job working at Aardman Animations and I’m working towards my 18th Edition Wiring Regs qualification, to be followed by a Temporary Electrical Installations qualifications next year.

The Difference

What difference has this made?

I feel as though I’ve regained the momentum I had at University, but lost due to Graduating during the pandemic and my support network going away.

What would you say about your experience?

“CMA helped me with CV building, gaining confidence and identifying my personal qualities and transferable skills. I was able to practice interview skills in the sessions, as well as having a practice interview the day before an important interview, and this was instrumental in landing me the job”.
