The Challenges

What challenges did you face?

Veronica finished College and soon left home to study a BSc in Zoology in Glasgow. This was an exciting time for Veronica to learn a subject she enjoys and meet new friends. However, it all changed for Veronica at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic with lectures moving online and all students having to isolate themselves in their rooms due to the National Lockdown. Lockdown became very difficult for Veronica as it did for many people around the world. Due to the restrictions in place, Veronica increasingly felt lost and confused as to whether she should continue her Degree alone in isolation.

The Action

What action did you take?

I was given the opportunity by CMA to meet organisations that are involved in Marine Conservation around the county, one of which was the Rock Pool Project, where I was able to participate in a two-week online course.

The Difference

What difference has this made?

I now work 25 hours a week as an Assistant Video Editor where I assist many businesses in Cornwall with their marketing and video needs. Due to the placement being part time, I still have plenty of hours within the working week to learn more!

The Feedback

What would you say about your experience?

“As a result of all the CMA support, I feel more in control of my life and feel that I can better support myself.”
