Matt Nott

I have always loved the ocean. As a lifelong surfer, I have witnessed it’s beauty and power firsthand. But I have also seen it’s vulnerability. The ever mounting plastic problem is threatening the health and diversity of our Marine ecosystems. That’s why I decided to step outside my comfort zone and create a business that can make a difference. One Blue Eye is more than just a company. It’s a movement. We offer innovative products and services that reduce plastic waste and promote ocean conservation. We also educate and empower our customers and communities to join us in our mission. Our vision is to help our coastal regions thrive and grow, and to give people hope in a hopeless world. I believe that together, we can make life better. For ourselves, for the ocean, and for the planet. Join us today and be part of the solution.

What would you consider is the best part about your job?

I love meeting new people with different backgrounds, skills and ideas that I can collaborate with to grow as both a person and as a business.

What's your advice for young people?

Do what you LOVE! If you don’t think there is a way to do that then look harder. Doing something that you are passionate about and love doing means you will never have to work a day in your life because it won’t feel like work.

What first inspired you to pursue a career in the Marine industry?

A lifelong surfer and Cornishman means that it’s very hard to ignore the issues our oceans are experiencing. I was getting overwhelmed by the sheer amount of plastic washing up on our shores so I wanted to do something that benefits both our shorelines and our mental health. There is hope and it can be found all around us. Together we can make life better.

What is the best thing about working in Marine?

I get to go surfing on my recycled plastic hand planes and bodyboards and call it work (research and development!)
