Rachel Murphy

I was born and raised in Cornwall and loved the water for as long as I can remember. The beach was my playground and I started bodyboarding as a kid and joined a local surf life-saving club. I just loved being in the water; no matter how cold it was or what the waves were doing. As long as I got in the water, I was happy and I became totally addicted!

How did you get into the job role?

I founded Women + Waves in 2017 from an early passion for the love of surfing. I wanted to bring women together and experience everything Cornwall has to offer.

What would you consider is the best part about your job?

I get to do what I love every single day! Surfing and being in the sea has been a huge part of my life since I was a teenager, now I get to share it with everyone. It changes people’s lives for the better.
